I drew this as a tribute to one of my favourite short stories... "The Strange Case or Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" by Robert Louis Stevnson, though I suppose my take on it seems a bit more modern (for Hyde, anyway).
I'm always disgusted when I see Mr. Hyde depicted in movies as a huge blob of pulsating flesh in a torn up suit... If I'm not mistaken, the book describes him very differently... And as for me, I've always imagined him as a bit of a hairy guy. (I wish I had been able to put facial hair on the Hyde side, but it would have looked awkward on his face, next to Jekyll.)
I'm hoping I'll get a coloured tribute to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde done at some point... I won't lie. It's my favourite short story, and I'm addicted to psychopathology, the study of mental illnesses. Believe it or not, Jekyll does NOT have Dissociative Identity Disorder (multiple personalities)... He has more of an addictive mind-frame, which makes him unable to stop drinking the potion. I'll shut up now.
If you haven't read it... READ IT.
Interestingly, when I'm not working on Macromedia Flash, where I have limited tools, limited lines and no option for blending colour, I can actually draw some really amazing things, in not too long a period of time. So here, have some REAL traditional art I've created. Not that crappy... Realism thing I uploaded last night. XD Of course, my computer DOES have a tendency to butcher things, so... It looks better on the actual paper. (Doesn't ALL art...? XD)
Kool, i actualy read that one when i was a child and it ispired me to do a manga about the same topic its on my account [link] check it out if you like, by the way this drawing really captures the esence of a man sharing his heart with a monster, but not knowing which is the monster and which is the man, trully magnificent, i discuss that topic in my manga, check it out if you want but great picture
